Aquarium & Research Facilities Technician

Contract type: Open ended - Full time (37 hours per week)
Salary: Grade 2 £24,900 to £29,959 per annum depending on experience

To ensure the effective operation, maintenance and improvement of research facilities with a focus on our unique seawater life support and aquatic systems. You will support the aquarium team to design, develop and maintain experimental set ups for research projects and take an active role in ensuring animal care and welfare. As part of the Operations Directorate you will work as part of the wider team to support us as a destination for marine biology discovery.

Site Services Coordinator

To provide a central support role for the effective operation of the organisation’s site, facilities, events and bookings. Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Salary: Grade 3 SP27 £35,116 to Grade 4 SP31 £39,355 per annum depending on experience

The study of cell signalling processes in diatoms and other algae, designing and conducting experiments using a range of model organisms. The post will involve fluorescent microscopy, genetic manipulation and cell physiology approaches. Bioinformatic approaches will also be used for comparative genomics and molecular phylogenetics. The post will require data analysis and preparation of peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts for publication. Engagement with the wider scientific community.
