I gained a BSc Hon in marine and freshwater biology from Kingston University, London (2009), MRes in Marine Biology from the University of Plymouth, Plymouth (2014) and a PhD in microbiology from the University of East Anglia, Norwich (2018). I have been based at the Marine Biological Association since 2013 and am currently a Research Assistant in the Cunliffe Group. My role as a research assistant involves a lot of hands on and practical work planning and carrying out experiments both in the lab and in field. My main area of research is marine microbiology and I specialise in marine bacteria and fungi. I am currently working on projects investigating the role of marine fungi in marine environment and how they fit into marine food webs and carbon cycling.
