Marine Evidence-based Sensitivity Assessment (MarESA) Training Course

The course aims to provide participants with a basic knowledge of what ‘sensitivity’ means and how it is assessed under the MarESA approach, using specific examples, relevant to conservation of marine habitats and species of conservation concern in the United Kingdom. The course is presented in three parts:

• Part 1. Introduction –outlines the history of sensitivity assessment in the UK, how common terms, pressures and benchmarks are defined and what is meant by the term ‘sensitivity’

• Part 2 . Sensitivity assessment – outline the MarESA approach is applied to UK species and habitats (biotopes) and its assumptions.

• Part 3. Examples and tools – gives examples of how the MarESA approach is applied to example habitat/species, together with the information resources and decision support tools provided by the MarLIN website. Users are advised to view each part in order.

Users should refer to the MarESA guidance Manual 2023 version: www.marlin.ac.uk/publications when viewing the course.

An optional Q&A session can be arranged on request.
