The MBA Postgraduate Conference is a highly inclusive space for all early career researchers. We don’t want finance to be a barrier for anyone attending this conference. See below on the bursaries available in which you may be able to get additional support.

Plymouth Marine Science and Education Foundation (PlyMSEF) Grant-in-aid (GIA)

Plymouth Marine Science and Education Foundation (PlyMSEF) provides travel grants to enable research students to attend academic conferences and symposia or to attend advanced training courses or workshops in marine disciplines.

For 2024 up to eight awards, to the value of £500 will be available in a competition process for applicants who meet the criteria as follows:

Applicants must be registered PhD students or postgraduate scientists within 4 years of graduation employed in marine–related research projects and have a strong affiliation with one of the following institutions:

a) DDRC Healthcare
b) Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom
c) National Marine Aquarium
d) Plymouth Marine Laboratory
e) University of Plymouth.

Applications must be made on the form attached, noted that support from the applicant’s supervisor is also required.

Once completed, the form should be returned to Geri Laing at gebr@pml.ac.uk by the application deadline of Friday 12th January 2024.

The Challenger Society provides several prizes, awards and grants to members of the oceanographic community.

MBA | Student Bursary Application

 For the past two decades, the Association has provided bursaries to 100s of students from all backgrounds and demographics, enabling them to attend events all over the globe.   

Membership categories eligible to apply are Students, Postgraduates and Newly Qualified members. 

There will be one award for up to £500 and one up to £250 at each bursary round. There are 3 rounds per year.

We accept bursary applications at any time and these are considered by our selection committee and allocated at 3 times throughout the year, please see below for deadlines and indicative outcome periods.  

Deadline Thursday 01 May at noon (12:00 midday). OPEN
Outcome Week commencing 13 May 2024

 

The Company of Biologists - low-income countries

We would like to encourage attendees to the conference from all backgrounds, to aid this The Company of Biologists has kindly provided us with funding to be able to offer a registration fee waiver and free MBA-membership to anyone from or studying in low-income countries.
