Accommodation and Food 

Is accommodation included in the conference fee?

No, your ticket to the conference does not include accommodation. However, we recommend that you book with Kynance House B&B. They offer a discount code for those attending this conference. Details for how to obtain the discount will be included in your registration email.

Are meals provided?

Refreshments will be provided for each day of the conference. There will also be a conference dinner held on Wednesday 24th, but you will need to add the dinner option to your ticket to be able to attend this.

What dietary restrictions are being catered for?

We will be able to cater for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free, however please specify your dietary needs when booking your ticket so that we ensure there is enough food provided. If you more specific dietary needs please get in touch at MBAPG2024@outlook.com and we can liaise with our caterers to sort out the best options for you.

 

Registration

I can only attend part of the course; can I get a discount on the ticket?

Unfortunately we cannot offer discounted tickets if you are unable to attend the entire conference.

When is the registration deadline?

  • Early Bird Tickets: November 30th – Feburary 12th (13:00 GMT)
  • Full Price Tickets: February 12th – March 31st
  • Late to the party tickets: April 1st – April 7th 

Who will attend the conference?

This conference is for postgraduate students and early career researchers studying/working in the field of marine science.

Am I eligible for any ticket discounts?

Discounted tickets are offered to PlyMSEF associates (Plymouth Marine Laboratory, Marine Biological Association, University of Plymouth, National Marine Aquarium, DDRC). To have your discount applied please use your institutional email address when registering

If I am unable to attend what is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel your place on a course please do this through MyMBA.  If you cancel a course or event booking more than 30 days before the start date of the event you are eligible to receive a full refund minus an admin fee equal to 5% of the course fee that you have paid.  If you cancel a course or event booking within 30 days of the start date you will NOT be eligible for a refund.  For more information please see the terms and conditions which are available on booking.

How do I get to Plymouth?

Plymouth has a coach and a train station which connects Plymouth to most large cities in the UK. Please note that if you are planning on driving to Plymouth there is limited parking at the venues being used by the conference. Abstract Submission 

What are the guidelines for abstract submission?

250 words or a 2 minute video abstract.

What are the guidelines for posters?

If you are successfully selected for presenting a poster the specifications will be sent to you in an email.

What are the guidelines for oral presentations?

If you are successfully selected for presenting a talk the specifications will be sent to you via email.

 

Timetable

What networking opportunities are there at the conference?

There will be time to network during coffee and lunch breaks in the conference. Additionally we will be holding an ice breaker event on the first evening and a conference dinner on the second evening to maximize chances for people to connect.

Where will the events take place?

On April 23rd the conference will be jointly hosted by Plymouth Marine Laboratory and the Marine Biological Association. The 24th – 25th of April will be hosted by the University of Plymouth.

Is there a program of events for this conference?
