The Marine Biological Association offers a number of work placement opportunities annually for students enrolled in a formal education program, undertaking the placement as part of a certified study/ training programme.
Work placements are usually offered flexibly at the equivalent of 6 –9 months full time work to be completed within 12 months. Applications for shorter placements may be considered. Start date, length of placement and work schedule will be agreed between the student, academic institution and host for each post.
Before applying, students should confirm with their university that they are eligible to take part in a work placement module as part of their course of study. Please note application from those not undertaking a placement module as part of their formal education programme will not be considered.
The application closing date for 2024/2025 is now closed.
How do I apply?
Please click the apply now button at the top of the page, you will need to fill in a form and then send both a covering letter and a CV to placements@mba.ac.uk for each placement applied for.
What is the process after I apply?
You may be invited for an informal interview with the person offering the placement. Please ensure you check your e-mails. We will endeavour to let all applicants know if they have been successful or unsuccessful.
When will I hear if I have been successful?
We will endeavour to let all applicants know if they have been successful or unsuccessful by the end of March 2024 but occasionally this process is delayed, please contact us if you have not heard by the end of April 2024.
I am not studying at a University but I would like to gain some work experience, can I apply for one of these placements?
Unfortunately, these placements are only available to students undertaking a placement module as part of their formal education so if this doesn't apply to you then you are not able to apply. Any applications received that do not meet the criteria will not be considered.
