MBA Anne Warner Research Fellow
The Marine Biological Association
Hours: 37 hours per week
MBA scientists are addressing the most important questions facing our marine environment through a diverse programme of fundamental and applied research (www.mba.ac.uk). We are seeking to appoint a new MBA Anne Warner Research Fellow to develop an independent research group in the area of cell and molecular biology of marine organisms that will complement our science programme. We are particularly keen to hear from outstanding scientists whose research in the cell and molecular biology of marine organisms will address major scientific questions from fundamental cellular processes to global scale issues. The successful applicant will be expected to compete for additional external funding to support the development of their research group at the MBA.
The endowed MBA Anne Warner Research Fellowship was made possible by a legacy from the late Anne Warner FRS who was a Professor at University College London and a former Foulerton Professor of The Royal Society. She was a frequent visiting researcher and Vice-President of the MBA and an advocate of using marine models in cell biology.
Applicants should have an excellent track record of research and publications commensurate with their career stage. They should have a clear ambition to establish a research group at the MBA and to obtain competitive research funding. The MBA offers excellent molecular and cell biological facilities, including advanced bioimaging, and provides access to seawater aquaria, culture facilities, a research vessel and associated field equipment. The appointment will be for 5 years with a fellowship performance review at 3 years. Longer-term career options may also be considered at the MBA, including via a joint university position, dependent on performance.
